FAQ

Common questions

Straight answers to what people ask us most.

Can I get health insurance if I'm self-employed or a 1099 contractor?

Yes. If you're self-employed, a freelancer, or a 1099 contractor, you can buy individual coverage — either an ACA Marketplace plan (which may include income-based subsidies) or a private plan. As an independent agency, we compare both routes to match your income and your health needs.

What's the difference between a PPO and an ACA Marketplace plan?

A PPO describes the network: it gives you flexibility to see specialists and out-of-network doctors. “ACA Marketplace” describes a plan that meets Affordable Care Act rules, covering all Essential Health Benefits and never denying you for health history. Some private PPO plans are medically underwritten and aren't ACA-qualified. We walk you through the trade-offs so you can choose with confidence.

How does coverage work if my income isn't steady month to month?

It's common for the self-employed, contractors, and commission-based workers like real estate agents. We look at your average income and household size to see what ACA subsidies you may qualify for, and compare that against private plan pricing so you're not guessing.
